Fat sharks to be fed healthy vegetables

由于营养过剩且运动不足,长风公园海底世界100多条超重的鲨鱼不得不进行一项减肥疗程,工作人员专门为鲨鱼制定了一份以蔬菜为主的特殊菜单。 ABOUT
100 sharks have been deemed overweight and are about to go on a diet, an
official said. Changfeng Park Ocean World said a special menu, including
cabbage, has been designed for the sharks. The fat sharks were getting too much
nutrition and not enough exercise. "Their fat is clearly seen piling at the
belly," said Wang Mingjie, an ocean world official. Compared to when they
arrived, the sharks are about 100 kilograms heavier on average, she
said. "Vegetables and vitamins will be fed to replace part of their meat
consumption," she said. "For example, we will cut open fish and stuff cabbages
inside." Ocean world decided to put the sharks on a diet after one of its
turtles became sick in January. "The turtle's stomach was filled with
serous fluid. We believe that an excessive and seriously greasy diet was to
blame," Wang said. Laziness was the other big threat to the health of the
park's sharks. She said divers wake them during the day and force them to
swim in circles. "Some divers will dress as mermaids or spiderman to excite
the sharks and keep them moving," added Wang. | |
